WLC 400: WLC Major Capstone
Students work with the instructor and WLC faculty advisors to research, synthesize, write and present their Capstone projects. Students will also assemble a Graduation Portfolio reflecting how each MLO was met. This course is required for all Japanese, Spanish and World Languages and Cultures majors.
Course Narrative:
Mimicking what we accomplished in JAPN 404, we continued to research topics and learned about more resources that we could use to collect and present our findings. I spent a majority of my time in class learning how to better communicate with my partner, peers, and professors in order to develop a quality research project. Japanese major students were usually separated from Spanish major students, so whenever we were able to come together, we could collaborate in order to help each other create our Capstone presentations, e-portfolios, as well as offer advice regarding presentation techniques. We continued to learn how to use Google applications to make surveys, research papers, and presentations, and were introduced to search engines and programs to aid us in our research thanks to the library staff at CSUMB. As the semester came to a close, we finalized our presentations, and our professors advised us to present a quality project that could be easily understood by our audiences. In cooperation with JAPN 404, being in this course granted me the ability to work together with my classmates through peer evaluations, and gifted us the time to meet with our advisers whom sacrificed their time in order to guide our thoughts and assist in the creation of our Capstone projects.
